Brief Itinerary
Arrival at Muscat International Airport. Our Representative will meet you on arrival and transfer to Hotel.
DAY 01 : Muscat – Nizwa – Jabel Shams – Muscat:
Being Friday today we will do the trip to Nizwa- the historical & heritage capital of Oman. Nizwa is about 175 kms from Muscat and known as the birth place of Islam in Oman. On every Friday mornings Nizwa Souk hosts a live stock market hence we will leave Muscat by 0700 hrs. Local farmers bring their cows, goats and sheep to be inspected, auctioned and sold to the highest bidders. After experiencing this we will have a tour through Nizwa Souk, which leaves visitors enchanted with the vast variety of souvenir shopping – mud pots, silver coffee pots, incense burners, finely worked silver amulets, anklets, bangles and khanjars on display. Later by 1030 hrs Visit Nizwa Fort – built by Iman Sultan bin Saif bin Malik Al Ya’arubi and is today a magnificent historical site. Standing proud in the heart of Nizwa, it is connected to the Nizwa Castle. The massive circular tower characterizing the Nizwa Fort is unique in Oman. Designed to ward off the most violent attacks, its traditional doors are inches deep with holes through which boiling oil was poured on enemies.
After an early lunch at Hotel Falaj Daris we will proceed to Jabel Shams, The Mountain of Sun is a mountain located in northeastern Oman north of Al Hamra town. This is the highest peak in the Arabian Peninsula, rising to an altitude of 3,004 metres above sea level, and has a number of versants (slopes) and summits. Every time a tourist reaches a versant, he’ll find that it leads him to another, until he reaches the mountain peak. Back to Muscat by evening. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 02: City Tour of Muscat (0830 – 1300)
After breakfast we will start the day by 0830 hours. By 0900 we will visit The Grand Mosque*, one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world. Later drive through the elegant residential Shatti Al Qurum Area. By 1030 hrs we will have photo stop at magnificent Al Alam Palace , residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts, Mirani & Jalali. 1100 hrs visit Bait Al Zubair Museum to get an insight into Oman’s history and culture. The tours end with a visit to Muttrah Souq by 1200 hrs and later drop at hotel by 1300 hrs. Afternoon free on own. (To enter Grand mosque dress code for Ladies should be fully covered with scarf and wear full sleeves shirt and Men are not allowed to wear shorts). Overnight at Hotel Shangri la Al Husn – Deluxe Sea View Room.
Day 03: Muscat – Nakhl _ Rustaq – Muscat
After a good breakfast today we will have a day excursion to the South Batinah region of Oman. Morning we will drive to Nakhl which has a magnificent Fort ethernally rising out of the Rocky Mountain and towering well above this small town which has large Date Plantation. After visiting the fort we will drive through the narrow road through the town winds up to the Hot Springs, which is a popular picnic spot.
After spending some time at Nakhl we will continue for Rustaq (about 55 kms Southwest of Nakhl), once the capital of this area and always a major trading center of Oman. We will visit the Rustaq Fort and later drive to Al Sawadi Beach resort for Lunch. Later in the afternoon back to Muscat and drop at Hotel. Overnight at Hotel
Day 04 : Exclusive Sunset Dinner Cruise in a Traditional Omani Dhow
Morning session is free at leisure. By 1630 hrs our chauffer will pick you up from the hotel and drop at the Marina Bandar to board the traditional Oman Dhow for a sunset cruise along the beautiful Muscat coast which is followed with a sumptuous dinner – [Mix of Arabic and Indian Menu]. Later drop back at the hotel by 2030 hrs. Overnight at Hotel.
