Royal Opera House: A visit to the famous Opera House in Muscat city is a must as part of the Muscat City Tour Program. It is Oman’s undisputed venue for Oman’s musical arts & culture which was presented to the nation by the late ruler Sultan Qaboos. Tourists can visit Opera House Saturday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5 pm. Entrance charges are OMR.3.000 for adults and OMR.1.000 for children.
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque: This is the largest mosque in Oman, one of the tallest structures with an imposing 90 meter height minaret. Mosque also has 4 other minarets thus remembering the five pillars of Islam. The mosque has an impressive architecture, stunning decorations, breathtaking chandelier, beautiful mosaics in the prayer room and brilliant Iranian carpets etc.
Al Alam Palace: This is the official residence of Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik and is located in old Muscat. The Palace is guarded by two impressive fortresses of Jalali & Mirani in the harbor of Muscat. Visitors can see the Palace from outside.
Bait Al Zubair Museum: This is a private museum and displays some of the interesting artifacts from Oman’s military, social and cultural past. Museum is the cultural hub of Oman and is located in old Muscat.
National Museum: This Museum is undoubtedly the largest among all museums in Oman and it is the flagship Museum showcasing the countries heritage and culture starting from the earliest human settlement in Oman
Muttrah Souk: This is 200 year old souk in Oman and is also one of the oldest in the Arabian Penninsula. One can buy from Carpets to Khanjars, wooden Mandoos, various Omani handicrafts, Frankincense, decorative lamps, silver and Gold jewelries. Ladies of Sidab: This is an exclusive Social entrepreneurship movement aiming to effect positive social change. It is Oman’s most successful cottage industry based in Sidab, a fishing village near Muscat, with 100 women active in the group.
