Brief Itinerary
Day 01: ARRIVAL IN MUSCAT
Arrival at Muscat International airport. Meet and assist on arrival and transfer to City Seasons Hotel (www.cityseasonshotels.com). Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 02: HALF DAY MUSCAT CITY TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning, the group will be met at the hotel by our guide for a half day City Tour. The tour begins with a visit to the amazing Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque one of the largest mosques in the Middle East followed by a visit to the beautiful Opera House. Later, you drive along the picturesque Corniche to the once walled district Muscat. Visit National Museum. You will have photo stops at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. Evening you will be strolling through Muttrah Souq, where you will be bargaining for handicrafts and silver items. Return to hotel for overnight stay (B).
Day 03: MUSCAT / NIZWA (Jabrin – Bahla) – (300 Km approx.)
Breakfast at the hotel. Start on our full day tour to Nizwa, the cultural capital of Oman Oman. Enroute we stop at Fanja Date Palm farm. When we reach Nizwa we visit the famous Nizwa Round Tower Fort, one of the best architectural works of Oman. The height is more than 40 feet from where you can enjoy the wonderful views of the city. Later we visit Nizwa Souk where you will find plenty of local handicrafts items and famous for its silver ware and Arabic ceramic. Continue to Bahla, one of the most ancient villages in the Sultanate. Visit the UNESCO listed Bahla Fort and then visit Bahla Pot making units. Aftewards we visit the impressive Jabrin Castle which was built around the 17th century and is considered to be one of the most beautiful forts in Oman for the its exquisite wood carvings and frescoes. In the evening return to Nizwa. Overnight at Nizwa Heritage Inn (www.nizwainn.com). (B)
Day 04: NIZWA –WAHIBA SANDS (250 Km approx.)
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out in the morning and visit the picturesque area of Al Hamra, where are some of the best preserved and most ancient houses in Oman.Drive to Alwasil to board the 4WD to Wahiba Sands-desert with dunes that reach 200 meters in height. Later we will drive to Bedouin Camps, camps of nomadic tribes’ who have lived for centuries in the Wahiba. The group can meet the Bedouins and enjoy their hospitality. Check in at Sama Al Wasil Camp (www.samaresorts.com). In the evening one can enjoy the spectacle of sunset on the dunes. BBQ Dinner and overnight stay at the camp. (B/D)
DAY 05: WAHIBA SANDS –WADIBANIKHALID –SUR (300 Km approx.)
Breakfast at the camp. Continue to Wadi Bani Khalid, a beautiful oasis between the mountains, characterized by turquoise pools .There after drive to Sur a charming town on the eastern coast of the Arabian peninsula. Visit Sur, renowned for its dhow shipyard in former times. After visiting the Dhow Building Yard the group will also see Sur Fort amd Maritime Museum. Check in at Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve (www.rasaljinz- turtlereserve.com). After dinner move to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Sanctury to admire the Giant Turtles coming to the shore from the sea to lay eggs and watch the little ones hatching the eggs and moving towards the sea. Return to hotel and overnight stay. (B)
DAY 06: SUR-MUSCAT (200 Km approx.)
Departure to Muscat, along the eastern the spectacular Hajar mountain range. Then crossing white beaches and rocky coves, stop in Bimmah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater and Fins Beach, one of the most beautiful white sand beaches of Oman. Check in at City Seasons Hotel (www.cityseasons.com). Overnight in Hotel. (B)
Day 07: MUSCAT
Breakfast at the Resort. Morning at leisure or for shopping. Evening transfer to Marina Bander to embark on an exciting Dhow Cruise along the Muscat coast. Enjoy the sunset and later experience the traditional Arabic dinner served at the Dhow. Watch the spectacular city under the lights from the Dhow while we return to Marina. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08: DEPARTURE
Transfer to Seeb International Airport for return/onward journey.
